How to ………………Bookmark your favourite websites

The first thing to do is to Bookmark this website so that you can easily visit on a regular basis and not have to remember the correct web address (www……)

  • If you look onto the search bar (just above this page) you will see a Bookmark tab – see the picture below for an example. Your Bookmark tab may be in a slightly different place to the one shown, but it will be in the tab above this page

  • Click onto the Bookmark tab and a “drop down” list will be displayed.
  • Select “Bookmark this Page” and you will then be given an option of giving the Bookmark a new name – or you can keep the default one suggested.
  • Next time you log onto the internet you can go to Bookmark and you will see the website name there for you to select.
  • Do this for all your favourite websites

How to …………………..select and delete easily using basic shortcut keys

The below basic shortcut keys are a listing of shortcut keys that will work with almost all computers and software programs. It is highly recommended that you keep a good reference of the below short cut keys and/or try to memorize them.

To practice the shortcut keys, type some text into a word document and then follow the keys as shown. For example to do Ctrl + A, you need to hold down the Ctrl key (usually bottom left of your keypad) at the same time as the A key (you don’t use the + key)

The Shift key is just above the Ctrl key.

The Home and End keys are usually found towards the top left of your keypad.

Shortcut Keys Description of what this will do
Ctrl + A Select all text.
Ctrl + X Cut selected item.
Ctrl + C Copy selected item.
Ctrl + V Paste
Home Goes to beginning of current line.
Ctrl + Home Goes to beginning of document.
End Goes to end of current line.
Ctrl + End Goes to end of document.
Shift + Home Highlights from current position to beginning of line.
Shift + End Highlights from current position to end of line.
Ctrl + Left arrow Moves one word to the left at a time.
Ctrl + Right arrow Moves one word to the right at a time.
